Pakistan move the Ireland home series to 2027 citing what has been a pretty crowded and congested cricket schedule.
Pakistan home series against Ireland postponed to 2027.
Due to scheduling issues, Pakistan’s home series versus Ireland has been rescheduled until 2027. The current September-October timeframe for the white-ball series, which consists of three T20Is and three ODIs, will no longer be used.
Originally anticipated to be relocated later in the season, it will now be moved to the following home season and removed entirely, with both boards considering different dates in 2027.
The series was first announced in May 2024 and would have been the first time the Ireland men had visited Pakistan. It was anticipated at the time to happen early in the 2025 home season for Pakistan.
The series versus Ireland was scheduled for September–October when the PCB published its official season schedule. That is still the series’ official schedule as of this writing on the PCB website.
But for Pakistan, who are now playing a white-ball series against the West Indies, that window has grown more crowded. They participate in a tri-series with Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates at the conclusion of this month.
More importantly, last week saw the announcement of the Asia Cup, which takes place from September 9 to 28 and whose status and schedule were becoming more and more hazy after a brief conflict between India and Pakistan in May. The window for the series against Ireland became unworkable when South Africa went on a two-Test tour of Pakistan in early October.
“We wanted to balance content and planning better across the two seasons,” PCB’s international cricket department told. “It made more sense for us both to spread the fixtures further out as we already have substantial content leading into Asia Cup and then the World Cup.”
