The Pakistan women’s cricket team has not received daily allowances during their ongoing preparatory camp in Multan, which began on September 1 ahead of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. The players, who are preparing for three T20Is against South Africa, will receive allowances only once the series begins.
This marks a shift from previous policy, where allowances were provided at training camps. According to a report, while the team now receives accommodation and three daily meals, no allowances are given. A PCB official explained that the policy dictates no extra allowances if meals and lodging are provided, which applies to both men’s and women’s teams.
However, in practice, the men’s team often receives allowances, even during recent camps where meals were not fully covered. The change has reportedly not been well received by the women’s team, who feel they deserve more than just basic necessities during camp.
The South African women’s team arrived in Pakistan on September 13 for the three-match T20I series, which will serve as preparation for the T20 World Cup. The matches will be held on September 16, 18, and 20 at Multan Cricket Stadium.
