PCB postpones three major domestic cricket tournaments with the new revised dates for those to be announced soon.
PCB postpones President’s Trophy Grade II tournament, the Regional Intra-District Challenge Cup, and the Inter-District U19 One-Day tournament.
“The tournaments will resume from the same stage later and a revised schedule will be shared closer to the resumption,” the PCB said in a statement on Saturday.
Just over a day had passed since the PCB announced that the PSL, which had eight games remaining in the season, would be postponed indefinitely due to a “worsening of the situation” at the Pakistan-India border. At the time, the PCB stated that the decision was made in response to suggestions made by Shahbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistan.
Less than twenty-four hours had passed since the PCB declared that the UAE would host the remaining PSL matches. But that quickly changed, and the teams started breaking up as the foreign players went to their different places.
The PSL’s restart has not yet been announced. Hours after the temporary suspension of IPL 2025, the postponement was announced. As previously reported, the proclamation of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan that went into effect at 1130 GMT (1700 IST and 1630 PKT) sparked preparations to resume the IPL on Saturday night.
Although the BCB claims to have had “active and ongoing discussions” with the PCB regarding the matter, it is now unclear what will happen to Bangladesh’s five-match T20I tour of Pakistan. On May 21, Bangladesh is expected to go to Pakistan to play in Lahore and Faisalabad; nevertheless, the region’s political climate has sparked worries.
The other two competitions were planned to run through May, while the three-day President’s Trophy Grade II event began in mid-April and lasted until the fourth week of May, with the final set to begin on May 22.
