Pollard leads Knight Riders past Kings after David’s controversial dismissal sparks debate in the aftermath.
It was just one of those occasions. One of the greatest at scoring a lot of runs in a short amount of balls, Tim David appeared to miss with a huge swing against an over-pitched delivery from Muhammad Amir. An edge was heard by the boys of the Trinbago Knight Riders. Nicholas Pooran did a review. Snicko displayed a spike, however replays revealed a gap between bat and ball.
David had to leave. With their finisher out in a chase of 184, St Lucia Kings were now at 113 for 4 in 14 and a half overs. They lost their CPL 2025 match in Gros Islet by 18 runs, despite the best efforts of the remaining hitters.
However, it would be inaccurate to claim that Knight Riders weren’t worthy winners. They entered this game with the intention of earning two more points, none more than Kieron Pollard, who had made a terrible mistake with his lines in the previous game. They had already won one and lost one that they could have won in their season thus far.
Despite Alex Hales’s difficulties, Knight Riders had a strong start after being sent in thanks to their form batter, Colin Munro. After hitting 10 runs in eight balls, Hales was the first to be dismissed; however, Munro ensured that the first wicket was worth 47 runs in 4.1 overs, and Knight Riders finished the powerplay with 58 runs scored.
Although Munro and Pooran each scored 43 and 34 runs in 30 balls, it was Pollard’s spectacular performance of 65 in 29 balls that ultimately helped the Knight Riders reach the winning total.
Pollard hit six sixes and four fours before walking out at 78 for 3 in the 11th over. The opposing captain, David Wiese, was given special treatment when he scored 24 runs, including three consecutive sixes in the 17th over. Pollard had done enough to give Knight Riders the lead, even though he was dismissed in the 19th, in a one-run over from Oshane Thomas against the flow of play.
