Potter all set to be appointed as new Sweden manager on the short-term following the sacking of Jon Dal Tomasson.
Graham Potter, the former manager of West Ham, is expected to take the position as head coach of Sweden.
To help Sweden’s struggling World Cup qualifying campaign, the 50-year-old has been offered the position on a temporary basis.
Potter has previously conveyed his passion for the nation and his interest in the position, and the conversations had advanced swiftly.
Since Jon Dahl Tomasson was fired after Sweden’s 1-0 loss to Kosovo on Monday, which prevented them from automatically qualifying from their group, the country has been looking for a new head coach.
In an attempt to tie second-place Kosovo, who have seven points in Group B, they will travel to play Switzerland and then host Slovenia in their final two games.
But because they won their group in the 2024–25 Nations League, they could still make it to the playoffs even if they didn’t place in the top two of Group B.
Following a dismal start to the season, Potter was fired by West Ham at the end of September.
West Ham was in the relegation zone after five defeats in six games during the 2025–26 season. Since joining the east London club in January, he has only won six of his 23 games overall.
Nonetheless, Potter maintains a favourable reputation in Sweden after leading Ostersund from the fourth division to the first flight three times in four seasons and won a domestic cup in 2017.
Prior to joining Chelsea in 2022, Potter managed Brighton and Swansea City with success. However, he was fired from his position at Stamford Bridge after just seven months.
