Preston striker slapped with huge ban after shameful offence in a Championship fixture against Blackburn Rovers.
Preston striker Milutin Osmajic has been given a massive 8-game ban after his ugly incident in the Championship.
He has also been fined a sum of £15,000 in addition to the ban.
The incident took place in a Championship match between the two Lancashire clubs on 22 September. Osmajic appeared to have bitten Blackburn player Owen Beck in the midst of an altercation between the two sides.
Announcing Osmajic’s punishment, a Football Association spokesperson said: “The forward admitted that he committed an act of violent conduct around the 87th minute by biting an opponent.”
The referee missed the Montenegro international’s infraction, which occurred after Beck was sent off for kicking out at Duane Holmes at the end of the 0-0 draw at Deepdale.
Osmajic signed with Preston in 2018 for an unknown sum that was reportedly a club record. In the North End’s most recent game, a 3-0 triumph over Watford, he scored twice.
The Blackburn manager, John Eustace, said after the game: “[Beck has] got a big bite mark on the back of his neck. He’s shown all the lads. He’s a little bit quiet, a little bit shook up.” Preston’s manager, Paul Heckingbottom, said: “There’s no place for [biting].”
The then Liverpool striker Luis Suárez received a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic in 2013.
