Prize pot for Champions Trophy sees increase by whopping 53% with the winners to get US$2.24 million as prize money.
Prize pot for the 2025 Champions Trophy is worth $6.9 million, a jump of 53% from 2017, when Pakistan had lifted the trophy at The Oval.
Along with the trophy they lift on March 9, the champions of the next Champions Trophy 2025 will also receive US$2.24 million in prize money. The losing semi-finalists will each receive $560,000, while the runners-up will receive $1.12 million.
Eight teams compete in the Champions Trophy, which is divided into two groups of four teams each. Each group’s top two players advance to the semi-finals. The winning team receives over $34,000 for each group match. The fifth and sixth-place teams will split $350,000, while the seventh and eighth-place teams will split $140,000.
“In addition, all eight teams are assured of $125,000 each for competing in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025,” an ICC statement said.
ICC chair Jay Shah said, “The substantial prize pot underscores the ICC’s ongoing commitment to investing in the sport and maintaining the global prestige of our events. Beyond the financial incentive, this tournament ignites fierce competition, captivates fans worldwide, and plays a vital role in fostering the growth and long-term sustainability of cricket for future generations.”
Pakistan, the tournament’s hosts, will play New Zealand in Karachi on February 19. Pakistan is hosting its first ICC tournament since co-hosting the World Cup in 1996. Since the squad was not permitted to go to Pakistan, India’s games against Bangladesh on February 20, Pakistan on February 23, and New Zealand on March 2 will instead take place in Dubai.
The remaining matches will take place in Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi. The matches will continue to be played in Dubai if India advances to the knockout stages. The date of their semi-final is set for March 4.
