The team’s medical staff will evaluate Ajinkya Rahane on Wednesday to ascertain the extent of the damage he sustained to his right hand while fielding during his team’s 14-run victory over the Delhi Capitals (DC).
Faf du Plessis hammered a ball at Rahane off the bowling of Andre Russell when he was fielding at short cover, striking him on the hand. Rahane started to leave the pitch right after to get medical help as the ball bounced towards mid-off for a single.
His hand was extensively wrapped, and he did not return to the pitch for the remainder of the game. The team’s last nine overs of their bowling innings were led by Sunil Narine, who was called into action.

Rahane stated that his team might draw strength from their 2021 late-season drive to the playoffs, even though KKR is now in seventh place with nine points from their first ten games.
“That’s always been the talk when we are not doing well,” he said. “But again, it’s in the past. For us, what’s important is staying in the moment, taking confidence from this game and moving forward.”
