[Saba Sports News] In an unfortunate sequence of events, India’s second warm-up match prior to the ODI World Cup 2023 got washed out by rain.
As already predicted by the weather forecasters, rain continued to pour down in Thiruvananthapuram on October 3, forcing the umpires to call off the game.
Notably, India’s first practice fixture, scheduled on September 30 versus England in Guwahati also had to be abandoned due to rain.
This leaves Team India with no practice before the mega event, which is slated to begin on October 5.
As rain denied India any practice at all, they will be the only team, who will head to the World Cup without featuring in the warm-ups.
Although this should not be seen as a worry as The Men in Blue are running quite strong in form. They have recently won important series in the form of Asia Cup 2023 and ODIs against Australia, in which many of their first-choice players, including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were rested for the first two games.
Rohit and Co. will commence their World Cup campaign versus Australia on October 8 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
