Ravindra Jadeja named vice-captain for India vs West Indies, with the rest of the Test side having a similar feel.
Jadeja named vice-captain in familiar-looking squad for India’s Tests against West Indies.
After making his debut in the role in England earlier this year, Shubman Gill will captain India in his second Test series against the West Indies. However, he will be joined by Ravindra Jadeja, a new deputy.
Rishabh Pant is still too injured to join the team. During the England tour, Pant served as the team’s vice captain. The team’s two specialist wicketkeepers are Dhruv Jurel and N Jagadeesan, with Jurel likely to be the starting option.
The rest of the team has a familiar appearance, and India has selected Kuldeep Yadav, Jadeja, and Washington Sundar as the three spin-bowling all-rounders because spin is predicted to be more important at home than pace.
Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna are the front-line quicks, while Nitish Kumar Reddy is the all-around fast bowler.
India’s two Test matches against the West Indies are the second of six series in the 2025–27 World Test Championship cycle, and they begin on October 2 in Ahmedabad and October 10 in Delhi. India’s cycle started in England with a 2-2 draw in the five-Test Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series.
India is ranked third in the WTC points table with 46.67 percentage points after earning 28 of the 60 possible points for five Test matches. With 100 and 66.67 percentage points, respectively, Australia and Sri Lanka are ahead of them. After losing three Test matches to Australia in June and July, the West Indies are at zero percentage points.
