Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have made a key signing for the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 season, replacing the injured Sophie Molineux with England’s Charlie Dean. Molineux, a pivotal player for RCB in the previous season, has been ruled out due to a knee injury, leaving the team in need of a strong all-rounder to fill her spot.
Charlie Dean, 24, brings her experience from the England women’s team to the squad. Having played 36 T20Is, Dean has taken 46 wickets, showcasing her impressive skills with the ball. She is also a reliable lower-order batter, known for her ability to strike at crucial moments. This addition to the RCB squad strengthens their spin attack and provides much-needed depth to their lineup.
Dean’s presence will also help balance the squad alongside other key players like Ellyse Perry, Smriti Mandhana, and Richa Ghosh. She will be expected to step into the role vacated by Molineux, who was a standout performer for RCB in their title-winning season, especially for her strong contributions in the bowling department.
The signing comes as part of RCB’s strategy to defend their WPL title, with the franchise keen to ensure their squad remains competitive despite the absence of Molineux. Dean joins the team for INR 30 lakh, adding a significant asset to RCB’s already star-studded roster.
As the season nears, the addition of Dean reinforces RCB’s commitment to strengthening their team, and fans will be eager to see how she adapts to the pressure of playing in the prestigious league.
