Rehan Ahmed ruled out of England Lions tour.
Due to a right lower leg strain sustained during the Ashes warm-up match versus England in Perth, Rehan Ahmed will not be able to participate in the England Lions tour of Australia going forward.
On the first day, legspinner Rehan, who batted at number five for the Lions, made 16 off 41 balls before being one of England captain Ben Stokes’ six wickets. The ECB then declared that he will return home to start his recuperation after he had no involvement with the ball or in the Lions’ second innings.
Rehan had committed to play for the Hobart Hurricanes in the 2025–26 BBL, but according to the BBC, the injury was not anticipated to affect his participation in the league, which begins in a month.
Next week, the England Lions will play a four-day encounter at Lilac Hill against a Cricket Australia XI. In December, they will play an unofficial Test match against Australia A. Between the first and second Ashes Tests, the Lions are anticipated to play in a pink-ball tour match between England and the Prime Minister’s XI in Canberra.
After the Lions program ended, there had been conjecture that Rehan, who was passed over for Will Jacks’ spot as the second spinner in the main Ashes squad, may remain with England.
