Rohit highlighted the packed calendar that Indian cricketers navigate annually. He noted that from September to March, domestic tournaments like the Ranji Trophy coincide with international series, leaving minimal downtime for players. This overlap makes it challenging for those consistently involved in all formats to participate in domestic matches without compromising rest and recovery. Rohit emphasized the importance of mental and physical rejuvenation, stating that continuous play without adequate breaks can lead to burnout and impact performance.
New Disciplinary Guidelines and Player Concerns
Beyond the domestic participation mandate, the BCCI has introduced a set of disciplinary guidelines aimed at enhancing team cohesion and professionalism. Among these, the restriction on family members accompanying players during extended tours has been a point of contention. Under the new policy, family visits are limited to a 14-day window during tours exceeding 45 days, with any exceptions requiring explicit approval from the head coach.
