[Saba Sports News] India captain Rohit Sharma reached the milestone of 10,000 runs in ODIs. Rohit achieved this feat in 241 innings and rightfully secured the second spot on the list of the fastest players to reach 10,000 ODI runs, with his teammate Virat Kohli topping the chart, having done so in 205 innings.
Moreover, Rohit broke the record of Sachin Tendulkar, who took 259 innings to reach 10,000 ODI runs, pushing him down to the third spot.
He is the sixth Indian batter to achieve this feat, following in the footsteps of legends like Tendulkar, Kohli, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, and MS Dhoni. He also joined the ranks of the 14 other batters worldwide, who have achieved this milestone.
Among these 14, Rohit’s current ODI average of 48.91 is surpassed only by Kohli (57.62) and Dhoni (50.57).
Rohit accomplished this during the Asia Cup 2023 match against Sri Lanka.
On the fifth delivery of the seventh over, delivered by Sri Lankan pacer Kasun Rajitha, the 36-year-old showcased his class by extending his arms and lofting the ball straight over the boundary for a six, stylishly reaching the 10,000-run mark. Additionally, with this maximum, Rohit (28)* surpassed Shahid Afridi (26) to become the player with the most sixes in the ODI Asia Cups.
