Women’s World Cup, Spain, Luis Rubiales
[Saba Sports News] After Spain’s triumph in the Women’s
World Cup, Luis Rubiales, the former president of the Spanish Football
Federation, attracted controversy when he publicly kissed the goal scorer and
engaged in inappropriate behavior towards the female players. Due to public
pressure, Rubiales eventually resigned from his position. Following his
resignation, Rubiales seized an opportunity to earn money and accepted an
exclusive interview with British celebrity Piers Morgan for a sum of 100,000
euros. It is worth noting that Rubiales’ annual salary as the president of the
Spanish Football Federation was approximately 630,000 euros. Therefore, the
interview payment amounted to roughly two months’ worth of his salary. Some
fans speculated that Piers Morgan, having already made significant earnings
from previous interviews with figures such as Cristiano Ronaldo, did not
necessarily require this additional income.
