[Saba Sports News] Sachin Tendulkar attended the Varanasi International Cricket Stadium’s foundation stone event in Uttar Pradesh, along with PM Narendra Modi and others. In a widely circulated video, Tendulkar presented an Indian jersey to PM Modi during the event, which also saw the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Ravi Shastri, Dilip Vengsarkar, and Sunil Gavaskar.
The UP government invested Rs 121 crore in acquiring the land for the stadium, with the BCCI planning to spend INR 330 crore for its construction. The stadium, themed around Lord Shiva, will feature crescent-shaped trident-like floodlights, ghat steps-style seating, and Belpatra-shaped metallic sheets on the facade. It will have a seating capacity of up to 30,000 spectators.
BCCI officials, including President Roger Binny, Vice President Rajiv Shukla, and Secretary Jay Shah, were also in attendance. The stadium is expected to be ready by December 2025, and its construction progress will be closely monitored following the foundation stone laying ceremony.
