Sai Sudharsan set for time away from the game with a sports hernia surgery that he underwent in London yesterday.
Sai Sudharsan has undergone surgery in London for a sports hernia. He put out a social-media post on Tuesday saying, “Will be back stronger in no time.”
Before going to the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, 23-year-old Sudharsan, a batter for the Tamil Nadu and Gujarat Titans (GT), played just one Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 match and scored nine runs against Tripura. He is reportedly on the fringes of the India Test team and has already made his international debut in ODIs and T20Is. He is anticipated to miss the entire domestic 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy event, which takes place from December 21 to January 18.
Sudharsan was playing for India A in Australia before the lone Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy appearance. He did well in the first four-day match, hitting 21 and 103, but he struggled in the second, scoring just 0 and 3.
This occurred after he had a strong start to the season in the first half of the two-part Ranji Trophy, scoring 82 against Saurashtra and 213 against Delhi in his two innings.
Prior to last month’s IPL 2025 super auction, GT kept five players, including Sudharsan, for INR 8.50 crore (about US$1.1 million). Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Shubman Gill, and Rashid Khan were the others.
Given that the IPL 2025 doesn’t begin until March, GT anticipates that Sudharsan will fully recover quickly and carry on his strong play from the last campaign, in which he led the team in scoring with 527 runs from 12 innings at an average of 47.90 and a strike rate of 141.28.
