Mohamed Salah faces jeopardy as Liverpool future in doubt, with Arne Slot facing Inter decision.
Following his vocal criticism of the team and Arne Slot, Mohamed Salah may be left off of Liverpool’s Champions League trip to Milan to play Inter on Tuesday.
Salah’s future at Anfield is in doubt following his explosive interview against Leeds on Saturday, where he claimed the team was ignoring him. Additionally, the 33-year-old stated that he no longer had a relationship with Slot, who left the forward out of his starting lineup for the third straight game.
The Egyptian forward has 19 months left on the £400,000-per-week contract he signed in April, but when the transfer window reopens next month, the Saudi Pro League is probably going to show more interest in him. Both Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad, who failed in a £150 million bid for Salah in September 2023, are reportedly eager to recruit the third-highest goalscorer in Liverpool’s history.
Salah’s near future is likewise unknown. As planned, the forward showed up for training on Sunday. It is believed that Liverpool hierarchy members addressed the problem but did not want to escalate the situation by responding publicly. Now, Slot must choose whether to include the disillusioned player in his Inter plans.
The first fifteen minutes of Liverpool’s Monday morning training session at their AXA base in Kirkby will be available to the media. The team will depart for Italy in the afternoon, and at a news conference at San Siro, Slot will be questioned for the first time over Salah’s allegations.
In his interview at Elland Road, Salah hinted that he might have played his last game for Liverpool. The Egyptian Football Association posted a message of solidarity on social media on Sunday. It is unclear if he will play in Liverpool’s next two games, but he is scheduled to report for Africa Cup of Nations duty on Monday, 48 hours after the team hosts Brighton at Anfield.
