Salah named in matchday squad for Liverpool to face Brighton before he departs to represent Egypt in AFCON.
Mohamed Salah, a forward for Liverpool, is in the starting lineup for Saturday’s Premier League game against Brighton following fruitful discussions with head coach Arne Slot on Friday.
It is known that Slot made the choice because he wanted to act in the club’s best interests, especially because several players were sidelined due to injuries.
While Salah is in the Africa Cup of Nations, Liverpool and his agent, Ramy Abbas, will continue to address unresolved issues.
The 33-year-old Salah said he had been “thrown under the bus” and that his relationship with Slot had broken down, therefore he was left out of the travelling squad for Liverpool’s Champions League match against Inter Milan on Tuesday.
After Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Leeds, where the forward was benched for the third straight game, the outburst occurred at Elland Road.
Salah stated in that interview that he had invited his mother to the game on Saturday and that it would be a chance to bid Anfield farewell.
Slot stated that there were “no reasons to not want Mohamed Salah to stay” with the team during his pre-game press conference earlier on Friday.
Pushed on the future of the Egyptian, who signed a new two-year contract in April, Slot added: “I will have a conversation with Mo. The outcome of that conversation determines how things will look.”
