Samson moves to CSK as blockbuster trade made official with Jadeja and Curran moving to the Rajasthan Royals.
RR trade Samson to CSK for Jadeja and Curran.
The IPL announced on Saturday morning that the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had completed the player transaction that will see Sanju Samson go to CSK in exchange for all-rounders Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja.
One of the most well-known player trades in IPL history is this one. Prior to IPL 2025, Samson, who led RR from 2021 until the previous season, was hired for INR 18 crore. While CSK had purchased Curran at auction for INR 2.4 crore, they had also kept Jadeja for the same sum. Jadeja’s cost has been changed to INR 14 crore, while Samson will pay the same amount to CSK. Curran’s fee doesn’t change.
“Rajasthan Royals gave me my first platform and my first taste of victory,” Jadeja said in a RR statement. “Coming back feels special – it’s not just a team for me, it’s home. Rajasthan Royals is where I won my first IPL, and I hope to win more with this current group of players.”
Samson worked for RR for 11 years, however during the 2025 Indian Premier League, he expressed his desire to leave the team.
For Jadeja, it’s a comeback to the team he began his IPL career with during the first season in 2008. With the exception of the 2016 and 2017 seasons when the team was suspended, Jadeja has been with CSK since 2012. He was even named captain in 2022, but after a dismal start to the season, he returned the captaincy to MS Dhoni.
After switching between CSK and Punjab Kings between 2019 and 2025, this will be Curran’s third IPL franchise.
