Sean Dyche on the verge to be new Forest manager as former youth player looks favourite to take over the reins.
Nottingham Forest close to appointing Sean Dyche as head coach.
Sean Dyche is on the verge of becoming Forest’s third head coach of the year. Ange Postecoglou, who was fired after 40 days in command, is set to be replaced by the former Everton manager.
Marco Silva, with whom Evangelos Marinakis had worked at Olympiakos, was reluctant to leave Fulham during the season, and his £13 million release clause made the deal challenging. Forest also considered and spoke with Roberto Mancini, the former head coach of Manchester City, but Dyche took centre stage.
After two years in command, Dyche was fired by Everton in January, and he hasn’t had a job since. The conclusion of a trade is facilitated by his availability and the lack of payment. Dyche is eager to be in the dugout for Forest’s Europa League match against Porto on Thursday.
Despite being a Forest youth player, the 54-year-old never played for the team’s main team. He frequently attends games and has lived in the region for a long time. It would be well received if Forest greats Ian Woan and Steve Stone made a comeback. They were important parts of Dyche’s backroom crew at Burnley and Everton.
Forest has come to terms with the fact that they are facing relegation. After losing 3-0 against Chelsea in Postecoglou’s final game on Saturday, they are currently in 18th place with five points from eight games. Rebuilding the defence that was so successful under Nuno Espírito Santo, who was fired in September, will be necessary for Dyche, who has a record for pulling teams out of difficulty.
