Sergio Conceicao starts his AC Milan tenure with victory over Juventus to make the final of the Italian Super Cup.
Sergio Conceicao won his first game in charge of AC Milan as his new side came from behind to beat Juventus.
After being set up by teammate Samuel Mbangula, Kenan Yildiz scored a well-placed attempt from 15 yards out to give Juventus the lead in the 21st minute.
However, Milan changed the game with two goals in a four-minute period in the second half.
Christian Pulisic, a former Chelsea midfielder, levelled after Manuel Locatelli hauled him down and blasted a penalty home. Milan then grabbed a lucky second when Federico Gatti diverted Yunus Musah’s cross into his own net.
The Coppa Italia and Serie A winners and runners-up from the previous season are among the four teams competing in the competition, which is held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Inter, who overcame Atalanta 2-0 in the second semi-final on Thursday thanks to two goals from Denzel Dumfries, will now play Milan in Monday’s final.
After Paulo Fonseca was fired, former Porto manager Conceicao was named head coach of AC Milan on Monday. The team is currently in eighth place in Serie A, 14 points behind joint leaders Atalanta and Napoli.
But in the first half, Conceicao’s new team failed to score a single goal, giving Juventus a well-earned lead. Yildiz then squandered two chances to give Juventus a 2-0 lead.
Milan was a much better team after the half and managed to turn the tide of the match to go to the final, therefore failing to score a second goal was costly.
