Shaun Tait gets on board as Bangladesh Fast-bowling coach and will take charge until the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Shaun Tait gets on board with the Bangladesh coaching staff as he is appointed as the new pace-bowling coach for the side.
It is anticipated that the team will benefit from Tait’s experience coaching bowling in the subcontinent.
He takes Andre Adams’ position, whose contract with the BCB was mutually terminated. Adams came in March 2024 and has been in charge of the fast bowling team’s growth from the T20 World Cup the previous year to the Champions Trophy this year.
As the team prepares for a lengthy summer filled with T20Is, ODIs, and Test matches, Tait takes over at a hectic moment. Before they get ready for the 50-over World Cup in 2027, Bangladesh is preparing for the T20 World Cup the following year.
Tait expressed his excitement for the Bangladesh fast-bowling team’s next period, which he thinks would provide greater outcomes soon.
“It’s a good time to be involved with the Bangladesh cricket team right now, a bit of a new era if you like,” Tait said. “It’s been spoken about many times recently – the young talent with the fast bowlers – which is great. This is international cricket, not a development team, and everyone expects the talent to bring results, which is very much my focus with the fast-bowling group and most importantly, getting more wins for the team. To have the opportunity to work with [head coach] Phil Simmons is equally as exciting and I’m looking forward to the journey ahead.”
As head coach of the BPL team Chittagong Kings the previous season, Tait collaborated closely with players like Khaled Ahmed and Shoriful Islam. In addition, he has experience coaching bowling for Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the West Indies. He has also played in the BBL, PSL, LPL, and English country cricket.
Considered one of the fastest bowlers in history, Tait played 59 games for Australia between 2005 and 2016, contributing significantly to their victory in the 2007 ODI World Cup.
