Shawnisha Hector to replace Stafanie Taylor for SA T20 series with the latter ruled out due to a shoulder injury.
Due to a shoulder injury, West Indies has called up fast bowler Shawnisha Hector to replace senior batsman Stafanie Taylor in the T20I series against South Africa.
When West Indies collapsed for 121 in the DLS-adjusted chase of 288 in the third and final ODI against South Africa in Barbados, Taylor was ruled out due to injury. Taylor scored 30* and 17 in the first two ODIs as South Africa won the series 2-1.
Hector, meantime, became the first Antiguan woman to play for the West Indies when she made her ODI debut in 2019. She has not yet appeared in any T20Is.
The remainder of the team is very much the same. T20Is will also feature veteran all-rounder Chinelle Henry, who took Cherry Ann-Fraser’s place in the ODI squad.
The 3Ws Oval in Barbados will host the opening encounter of the three-match T20I series on June 20. The remaining matches will take place there on June 22 and June 24.
