Shreyas named India A captain for Australia A ODI series, with Patidar named the Rest of India captain for Irani Trophy.
Shreyas Iyer, who missed the second four-day match between India A and Australia A due to his red-ball cricket break, will now captain the India A 50-over team for the three games against the same opponents in Kanpur from September 30 to October 5. This is a significant alteration. Rajat Patidar would captain India A in the opening one-day match, while Tilak Varma would captain the remaining matches, according to a previous announcement made by the BCCI on September 14.
Tilak, who is currently in the United Arab Emirates as a member of India’s Asia Cup squad, will be Iyer’s deputy for the second and third games, although no vice-captain has been selected for the opening encounter.
Patidar, meanwhile, was left out of the India A one-day team after leading Central Zone to the domestic season-opening Duleep Trophy championship. Instead, he will captain the Rest of India squad against Ranji Trophy winners Vidarbha in the Irani Cup, which will begin in Nagpur on October 1.
Tilak will be joined by Abhishek Sharma, Harshit Rana, and Arshdeep Singh in the India A squad for the second and third games of the Asia Cup. As previously mentioned, Priyansh Arya and Simarjeet Singh will depart the team following the opening game.
