SKY set to play remainder of SMAT and Vijay Hazare tournaments with Shreyas Iyer set to continue leading the side.
SKY set to play for Mumbai’s next Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) game, against Andhra on December 3.
The Indian T20 skipper had taken a 2-week break to participate in a family function. He has now returned and will take part in the T20 tournament.
He is anticipated to participate in the 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy beginning on December 21 in addition to playing the rest of the event.
Given that Shreyas Iyer has been in command up to this point and is anticipated to stay in that role, it seems unlikely that Suryakumar will lead Mumbai in SMAT. Iyer’s continued captaincy is known to satisfy Suryakumar, who is willing to bat at whichever position the team management deems appropriate for him.
Suryakumar recently led India to a decisive 3-1 series victory over South Africa. He is anticipated to play in the upcoming match after joining the Mumbai team in Hyderabad on Monday. Mumbai is currently ranked fourth in Group E. They have won two of their last three games. Mumbai will play Nagaland on Sunday in their final two league games.
Following the T20I tour of South Africa, several well-known players. Including Hardik Pandya, Iyer, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Varun Chakravarthy, and others, have participated in the present SMAT. Before departing for South Africa in October, Suryakumar had also participated in one round of the Ranji Trophy.
