Slot set to recall Salah straightaway into Liverpool 11 ahead of crucial Champions League game against Marseille.
Salah set for Liverpool recall as Slot insists he has no issues with forward.
Arne Slot has insisted he has no problems with the Egypt international, therefore Mohamed Salah is expected to make an instant comeback to the Liverpool squad versus Marseille on Wednesday.
Salah exercised with Liverpool on Tuesday for the first time since coming back from the Africa Cup of Nations, when Senegal, the eventual winners, dashed his chances of winning a continental championship with Egypt in the semifinals. Before leaving for Morocco, the 33-year-old’s future at Anfield was in jeopardy since he claimed his connection with Slot had broken down and accused the club of dismissing him due to subpar performance.
Although the forward’s long-term future at Liverpool is still up in the air, Slot stated that any lingering problems are not his fault and made it plain that Salah will return to the starting lineup for the Champions League game in France. Liverpool would advance to the knockout stages with a victory at Marseille.
Slot said: “There has been one moment in the season where I decided not to play Mo and one moment where I decided not to take him to the game [the win at Inter that followed Salah’s explosive interview]. For all the other games he’s been in the squad. He was the first substitution against Brighton, so there’s never been an issue for me, and the first time he’s able to be in the squad again, he is. Let’s see the lineup tomorrow if you still think there’s an issue.”
