
South Africa women set to host India for T20 series, making it India’s penultimate one before the 2026 T20 World Cup.
A five-game home series against India in April will be South Africa women final Twenty20 International assignment before to the 2026 women’s T20 World Cup.
The first two games will take place in Durban on April 17 and 19, while the second two will take place in Johannesburg on April 22 and 25. On April 27, Benoni will host the series’ final match.
“Facing a team of India’s quality so close to a World Cup is exactly what the Proteas Women need at this stage of the preparation,” Enoch Nkwe, CSA director of national teams and high performance, said in a statement. “It gives them an opportunity to test themselves against a top-level opponent, fine-tune their combinations and ensure they are executing their plans under pressure. This series will play a key role in sharpening the team’s readiness ahead of the T20 World Cup.”
South Africa’s T20I and ODI series against Pakistan in February and March will be followed by this series. Before coming home for the Twenty20 Internationals against India, South Africa will also go to New Zealand in March and April.
In the meanwhile, India will fly to South Africa after completing a multi-format tour of Australia in February and March. They will then begin a three-match Twenty20 International series in England in May.
On June 12, the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup will begin in England. Group 1 of the competition includes South Africa, India, Australia, Pakistan, and two qualifiers.
In addition to finishing second in the 2025 ODI World Cup, South Africa has lost finalists in the last two T20 World Cups. In 2020, India’s best result at the T20 World Cup was as losing finalists. They were eliminated in the opening round in 2024.
