[Saba Sports News] Recently, Premier League team Everton faced a
deduction of 10 points from the Premier League due to alleged violations of the
Financial Fair Play Act. This development has caused concern among fans of
other Premier League teams. Two other teams, Manchester City and Chelsea, are
also currently under investigation, with Manchester City facing accusations of
115 financial irregularities and Chelsea being investigated for questionable
spending practices under former owner Roman Abramovich. Both teams potentially
face the risk of point deductions. In a recent interview with the media, sports
economics expert Maguire discussed this matter and expressed his belief that if
the allegations against Chelsea and Manchester City are proven, they could face
the crisis of substantial point deductions. However, he also mentioned that it
is possible that they may not be relegated from the Premier League, as both
teams possess the ability to remain in the league despite potential point
deductions. Maguire stated, “We may witness both teams being punished with
significant point deductions. It’s possible to deduct 30 points directly, but
Manchester City and Chelsea still have the capability to stay in the Premier
League.”
