Stallions lose big after monumental collapse gives Markhors victory in Match 4 of the Champions ODI Cup in Faisalabad.
Stallions lose their second game in the Champions Cup as Markhors win their second straight game by a huge margin.
It was the first time that a team was restricted below 300 in their first innings. But Rizwan had no hesitation batting first given the batting-friendly nature of the surface.
Jahandad Khan, who took 4 for 49, plagued Markhors with early wickets on a regular basis, though. Markhors were hovering at 38 for 3, and Rizwan got off to a slow start but never really got going.
But three straight 50-run stands lifted them out of peril. But there would never be the explosive finale that has defined first innings throughout this season. The lower middle order was destroyed by Mehran Mumtaz and Jahandad, with the final five wickets falling for a just 10 runs.
In the powerplay, Shan Masood and Babar appeared to be coasting, giving the tournament the appearance of its first chasing victors. Babar demonstrated the supremacy of the Stallions by demolishing Shahnawaz Dahani with five boundaries in his lone over. Stallions needed nine overs to reach fifty. However, the script shifted when Masood attempted to interrupt Naseem Shah’s delivery, upsetting his stumps.
Masood did not like the farewell Naseem offered his Test captain, but the tide had turned. Babar and Tayyab Tahir both fell before the fifteenth over. Abruptly, the Stallions’ gallop was suppressed by Mahmood and Salman’s twist.
Not long later, Captain Muhammad Haris was sent down, and the Stallions fell loose. An hour earlier, it appeared like a simple chase, but the final eight wickets fell in 53 balls, resulting in a crushing defeat.
