[Saba Sports News] The WNBA has exciting news as they announce the addition of a new women’s basketball team in San Francisco, and the city’s superstar, Steph Curry, couldn’t be more thrilled! WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert revealed this expansion, which will see the new team affiliated with the Golden State Warriors, making them the sixth NBA franchise to have a WNBA team.
Engelbert expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted to expand to the Bay Area and introduce the WNBA to a region with passionate basketball fans and a strong history of supporting women’s basketball.”

This marks the first new WNBA franchise since 2008, with their inaugural season set to kick off in 2025 at the Chase Center, and they will make use of the Warriors’ practice facility as their base of operations.
