Tanveer Sangha replaces Adam Zampa for India T20i series having last played seven T20Is in 2023 for Australia.
Tanveer Sangha drafted into Australia’s T20I squad to replace Zampa.
Due to personal circumstances, Adam Zampa will not be able to start the series, therefore leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha has been brought into Australia’s team for the Twenty20 Internationals match against India.
Harriet, Zampa’s wife, is anticipating their second child. Due to travel difficulties, he was unable to attend the first ODI in Perth. He then played in Adelaide, where he won Player of the Match, and Sydney. In men’s Twenty20 Internationals, he is Australia’s top wicket-taker.
Sangha, 23, has seven T20I caps but hasn’t played since 2023. He plays for the Sydney Thunder in the BBL. In his debut match against South Africa, he got 4 for 31.
With 10 wickets in four games for New South Wales, he is presently the leading wicket-taker in the One-Day Cup. He also grabbed seven wickets in the three one-day matches for Australia A versus India A during the previous tour.
Sangha and left-armer Matt Kuhnemann could combine to create a dual spin attack if circumstances permit.
With multi-format players at different phases of their Ashes preparation, Australia’s T20I team has a lot of movable pieces. Sean Abbott will leave after the third game in Hobart, while Josh Hazlewood will go after the first two games in Canberra and Sydney.
When he joins the team for the third game of the series, Mahli Beardman, a 20-year Western Australia and Perth Scorchers fast bowler who hasn’t played a first-class match yet, may make his T20I debut.
