Tess Flintoff and Voll receive Central contracts from Cricket Australia in the latest list of contracted players.
Tess Flintoff and Georgia Voll have been awarded their first Cricket Australia central contracts. However, Since Jess Jonassen was left off of the 18-player roster, her prospects of making a comeback have decreased even further.
After a stellar season in which she made her debut in all three forms and replaced the injured Alyssa Healy at the top of the order with her first ODI century against India and two T20I half-centuries against New Zealand, Voll’s agreement was almost a formality.
Flintoff has long been regarded as a player for the future and has played for Australia A, notably in the most recent series against England A, where she took five wickets in the four-day match. Despite being called up for the 2023 trip of Ireland, Flintoff has not yet received any international caps.
Her promotion, nevertheless, follows a dismal 2024–25 WBBL season with the Melbourne Stars, in which she scored 59 runs in seven innings and claimed just three wickets. Despite taking eight wickets at 59.25, she had far better batting results for Victoria in the WNCL, with 330 runs at 33.00.
Flintoff made the fastest WBBL half-century from just 16 balls against Adelaide Strikers in 2022 when he was just 19 years old.
“Her ability to adapt to the various formats has been impressive and will come into play with an ODI World Cup later this year and a multi-format series against India in the new year.”
All-round left-arm spin bowler Jonassen hasn’t represented Australia since December 2023, but he has continued to be a reliable player in domestic cricket and T20 tournaments, most notably with the Delhi Capitals in the WPL.
In the spin-bowling hierarchy, she is now behind Alana King, Georgia Wareham, and Sophie Molineux, the latter of whom missed the Ashes and New Zealand tour due to a knee injury.
“While Jess Jonassen has not been included on this year’s list, we’re always keeping an eye on players outside of the squad and she is no exception,” Flegler said.
