Test Rankings see Pant at 7 while Duckett enters top 10 in the latest round of the ICC Test batsmen’s rankings.
After his twin hundreds against England at Headingley, India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has risen one spot to a career-high seventh in the ICC Test rankings for batsmen. After former Zimbabwe captain Andy Flower, the 27-year-old became just the second wicketkeeper to score a hundred runs in each Test innings.
Pant scored 118 in the second innings after scoring 134 in the first. India fell by five wickets in spite of his efforts, as the hosts easily chased down 371.
Ben Duckett rose five spots to a career-best ninth in the rankings after his iconic century in the fourth innings set the stage for England’s last-day raid. In addition to winning Player-of-the-Match, Duckett produced a crucial 62 in the first innings and then 149 off just 170 balls in the second.
Ollie Pope, who also got a century in the first innings, rose three spots to 19th rank, while Shubman Gill, India’s new Test captain, also advanced five spots to 20th after scoring a century in the first innings.
Harry Brook was in second position on the batting leaderboard, while Joe Root remained at the top. Although Brook scored 99 in the first innings, Root was still undefeated at 53 in England’s chase. After his 101 on the first day, Yashasvi Jaiswal is now the fourth-ranked batter in India.
After his five-for in the first innings of the Headingley Test, Jasprit Bumrah, meantime, maintained his position at the top of the bowling rankings. Pat Cummins and Kagiso Rabada are ranked third and second, respectively.
With Ravindra Jadeja at the top of the all-rounders’ rankings, Ben Stokes dropped three spots to fifth place.
