Tim David’s injury scare ahead of IPL playoffs.
Tim David, a batsman for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), sustained an injury while fielding during RCB’s 42-run defeat at Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), although he returned to bat later.
With the playoffs just five days away, RCB will hope it’s nothing serious, even though stand-in skipper Jitesh Sharma did not provide information on David’s fitness right after the game.
When Ishan Kishan swiped a full ball from Yash Dayal behind square in the final over of the SRH innings, David was fielding at the boundary on the leg side and ran towards the fine leg boundary. David was seen limping away shortly after he managed to keep the ball inside the field of play and limit the hitters to just one run.
RCB is already concerned about some of its important players getting hurt. Due to a hand ailment, their normal skipper Rajat Patidar was only able to bat on Friday. Devdutt Padikkal was ruled out of the competition earlier this month, and Mayank Agarwal took his place. Phil Salt was also not healthy until lately, but he did play against SRH.
Due to national obligations (ODIs against the West Indies), RCB will also lose Bethell in the future. However, Tim Seifert, a batsman and wicketkeeper from New Zealand, will take his position prior to the playoffs.
Josh Hazlewood, RCB’s star fast bowler, is also anticipated to return for the playoffs following a recuperation stint in Australia due to a shoulder ailment. When the IPL was temporarily suspended earlier this month, Hazlewood took a plane home, but he hasn’t been back since due to the injury.
Following their defeat by SRH, which also hurt their net run rate, RCB dropped to third position. To finish in the top two, they need to win their last league match and hope for some other favourable outcomes.
