TKR name Dwayne Bravo as new head coach following his retirement from the league as a player last season.
For the forthcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 season, Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) have named former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Brave as their new head coach. He takes Phil Simmons’ place as head coach of the men’s squad from Bangladesh.
“It’s an honor to be given the opportunity to be Head Coach of TKR, a team that’s very close to my heart,” he said in a social media post. “I would like to personally thank Coach Phil Simmons for his time and commitment over the last few years, and now I look forward to this new challenge for me and my staff.”
Between 2013 and 2024, Bravo participated in 107 CPL games and claimed 129 wickets with an economy rate of 8.74. He won the championship five times, including in 2021 while leading the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, and played for TKR in nine of the eleven seasons.
He was named head coach of the Knight Riders group’s Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20 last year. After retiring from playing for the Chennai Super Kings in 2022, he worked as a bowling consultant for the 2023 and 2024 seasons before serving as a mentor for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2025 Indian Premier League.
Bravo served as the bowling consultant for the Afghanistan squad that was defeated by South Africa in the semi-final of the 2024 T20 World Cup.
This year’s 13th CPL will take place from August 14 to September 21. After losing to the Barbados Royals last year, TKR was eliminated from the Eliminator and ended third in the standings.
