Tony de Zorzi to miss remaining ODIs vs England with hamstring issue and no replacement has been named for him.
Tony De Zorzi out of remaining two ODIs against England with hamstring injury.
Following a hamstring injury in the opening game in Leeds, Tony de Zorzi will not play in South Africa’s ODI series against England.
De Zorzi dived to save a drive from Jos Buttler that was headed for four while he was fielding on the boundary. He managed to pull the ball in, but the effort caused him to injure his left hamstring. It was promptly established that he would not return to the pitch and would only bat if necessary after he went for medical attention. South Africa didn’t need de Zorzi because they were aiming for a modest goal of 132. He will now go back to South Africa to get scans and find out how serious the injury is.
The other issue facing South Africa is captain Temba Bavuma, who injured his hamstring during the World Test Championship final in June and is currently subject to a workload-management regimen. Bavuma is anticipated to be rested for one of the last two ODIs, but he participated in two of the three in Australia and the opening game of the England series.
In the three-match series, South Africa is ahead 1-0.
