Travis Head has his say on the upcoming India-Aus series that will see the top two test teams face each other.
Travis Head, Australia’s opener has set his sights on the blockbuster home series vs India that begins from November in Perth.
India will enter Australian shores aiming to win a third consecutive series against Australia in Australia. The defending WTC champs, on the other hand, will look to win the first series against India since 2014.
Head has gone ahead and hyped up the series saying that India will be “extremely difficult” to play against. However, he stepped short of calling them favorites ahead of the series.
“I don’t feel like they’re my favourites. I just feel like we play them enough, play them lots. And, I guess the last couple of years I’ve been in nice form. So yeah, being able to, to play well, it’s always nice. It’s not hard to get up for the contest. It’s hugely competitive. Yeah, it’s easier to get up for the game. So I wouldn’t say they’re my favourites,” Head said.
“They’re extremely difficult but it’s been nice to play well in a couple of games. Looking forward to preparing well and being ready to go. Hopefully I can contribute to what’s a successful summer for us,” he added.
Head has been something of a bogeyman for India in recent years. His blistering 163 in the firs innings of the WTC final was instrumental in Australia hoisting the WTC mace. And then just a few months later he was once again India’s nemesis, scoring 137 as Australia “silenced” India in their own backyard on 19th November in the 50-over World Cup final.
The 5-Test series will be played in Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney. India and Australia currently occupy first and second positions on the WTC table respectively.
