Axel Tuanzebe launches legal complaint against Man United with claim relates to injury in final year at club.
Axel Tuanzebe, a former defender for Manchester United, has filed a lawsuit against the team, claiming “medical negligence” in connection with an injury he suffered in or after July 2022.
Last Wednesday, the high court received a filing titled “Tuanzebe v. Manchester United Football Club Limited,” which falls under the category of “Clinical Negligence – Part 7 Claim – Medical Advice.” It is believed that the claim has to do with an injury he sustained during his last season with the team.
After making his debut in a 4-0 FA Cup victory over West Ham in January 2017, Tuanzebe spent six years at United with injuries until departing for Ipswich in the summer of 2023. He joined Burnley this month on a free transfer.
Despite having three loan stints at Aston Villa and one each at Napoli and Stoke, the defender only made 37 appearances for United due to injury.
In September 2019, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave him the armband for a Carabao Cup third-round match against Rochdale, making him United’s youngest captain since 1985. Tuanzebe, who joined United at the age of eight, had thus captained the team at every level.
