[Saba Sports News] After some delay, Udonis Haslem has officially joined the Miami Heat’s front office. This week, the Heat announced his appointment as Vice President of Basketball Development, recognizing his status as a franchise legend. In his new role, Haslem will serve as a valuable resource to the coaching staff, mentor players both on the Heat and with the Sioux Falls Skyforce (Miami’s G League affiliate), and represent the organization in community and business matters.
At the age of 43, Haslem spent his entire 20-season NBA career with the Miami Heat. He retired in July, leaving behind a legacy as the team’s all-time leading rebounder and a key member of all three championship-winning teams, with a total of seven Finals appearances.
Although Haslem’s playing time significantly declined over the last five years, making only 37 appearances (including regular season and playoffs) from 2018 to 2023, he remained a vital presence as a de facto coach and a leading example for his teammates. Now, Haslem will continue many of these responsibilities in an official capacity within Miami’s front office.
