Villa on the verge of stunning deadline day double swoop with loan deals for Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford.
Villa have acted quickly and decisively after Jhon Duran’s sale to bolster their attack with two key additions.
Marco Asensio is on the verge of joining the Midlands side on loan from French outfit Paris St-Germain. The arrangement is a straight loan that has no option or obligation to buy for the 29-year-old Spanish international.
Another major deal that has seen a breakthrough in discussions is that of Marcus Rashford. The 27-year-old’s future has been a constant topic of discourse throughout the transfer window. He has been the subject of many clubs across the continent like PSG, Barcelona, AC Milan, and Dortmund.
However, the Villans were able to steal the march on the rest by agreeing to a loan with Manchester United that sees an option to buy for an amount of around £40 million.
Rashford has been frozen for the Man United by manager Ruben Amorim for not giving his best in training sessions. He has also spoken of his desire for a “new challenge” after being left out of the squad for the Manchester Derby in December.
Villa manager Unai Emery has been a huge admirer of Rashford and he believes that he can reignite the Englishman’s career.
The Spanish manager believes that Rashford is one of the most dangerous attackers in the world and with the right guidance he can rediscover his lost mojo.
With Villa automatically qualifying for the knockouts of the Champions League by finishing in the top 8, as well as losing Jhon Duran in the transfer window to Al Nassr, they have wasted no time in bolstering their attacking line by the additions of Asensio and Rashford.
Whether or not both these moves bring the required results for the side need to be seen, but for now it is quite safe to say that Aston Villa are not messing around and are taking things very seriously this winter window.
