Viral fever rules out Jemimah Rodrigues from Australia series, with Tejal Hasabnis replacing in the India side.
Rodrigues out of remainder of Australia ODI series with viral fever.
Due to a viral illness, India batsman Jemimah Rodrigues has been sidelined for the remaining two One-Day Internationals against Australia. She has been replaced by Tejal Hasabnis. The BCCI gave an update on Wednesday just before the second ODI in New Chandigarh, stating that Rodrigues is being watched by its medical staff.
In the first ODI, which India lost by eight wickets, Rodrigues was a member of the team. India put up 281 for 7, and she hit 18 runs off 26 balls from No. 5. Rodrigues was dropped from India’s starting lineup for the match on Wednesday in favour of fast-bowling all-rounder Arundhati Reddy.
Hasabnis, 28, is a middle-order batswoman who has been with the national side since last year. She made her debut against New Zealand in October 2024 in Ahmedabad in the One-Day International (ODI) format, which is the only format she has played internationally. With a strike rate of 78.65 and an average of 46.66, she has amassed 140 runs from six innings, including a top of 53 not out.
When the co-hosts, India and Sri Lanka, play each other in Guwahati on September 30, India would like to have Rodrigues, a vital member of their lineup, fully recovered in time for the ODI World Cup.
