After a disappointing performance with the bat in India’s first Test against Bangladesh at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, Virat Kohli headed to the practice nets while his teammates piled on the runs.
Kohli was dismissed for just 6 runs in the first innings, chasing a wide delivery, and fell for 17 in the second after being trapped lbw by Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
He chose not to review the decision, only to realize later that a review would have saved him, as the ball had brushed his bat before hitting his pad.
While Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant hit centuries to push India’s lead beyond 500, Kohli focused on practicing his technique in the nets, particularly against deliveries outside the off-stump. He was joined by young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Kohli’s Test form, especially in Asia, has been under scrutiny, as he’s averaged just 29.72 in 14 Tests since 2021.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh are struggling at 158/4 at the end of Day 3, needing 357 more runs to win. R Ashwin has been outstanding for India, picking up three key wickets in the second innings.
