Wayward Ireland need improvements as Mushfiqur joins the 100-test club and eyes a celebration of his own..
Mushfiqur eyes century-Test celebration against wayward Ireland.
In honour of Mushfiqur Rahim’s 100th Test match, the second and final Test between Bangladesh and Ireland in Dhaka will begin. Mushfiqur is the first cricket player from Bangladesh to accomplish this feat, and both present and previous teammates and coaches have showered him with praise. Ireland, on the other hand, will undoubtedly attempt to ruin the celebration.
In the first Test in Sylhet, Ireland lost to Bangladesh by an innings and forty-seven runs. Ireland didn’t appear to be in the game until Paul Stirling and Cade Carmichael batted strongly on the opening day. For the remainder of the game, they collapsed.
Andy McBrine battled hard to get a half-century in the second innings, while Stirling and Carmichael both scored fifties. Matthew Humphreys, a left-arm spinner, claimed a costly five wickets. Overall, though, Ireland’s trip was unmemorable.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy, who returned to the Test team with 171, was one among Bangladesh’s many excellent performers. After reaching his second Test century, Mahmudul opened up his shoulders and appeared compact at the crease. Najmul Hossain Shanto also scored a century, his fourth as skipper and seventh overall in Test cricket.
Bangladesh’s bowling was what initially put them ahead. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, and Hasan Murad were among the spinners who claimed 14 wickets. In his first Test match, Murad bowled tight lengths and occasionally found subtle spin. Both innings featured wickets from fast bowlers Nahid Rana and Hasan Mahmud.
The only member of Bangladesh’s top five who did not receive a fifty was Mushfiqur. Maybe he’s saving one for the big event.
