Women’s ODI World Cup sees fourfold rise in prize money compared to what it was in the 2022 edition of the tournament.
Record USD 13.88 million prize money for 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup.
The prize fund for the forthcoming Women’s ODI World Cup is USD 13.88 million. This is a substantial increase above the USD 10 million pool for the Men’s ODI World Cup in India two years ago, and it nearly quadruples the amount from the previous ODI World Cup, which was hosted in New Zealand in 2022 and had an overall pool of USD 3.5 million.
The prize money for the champions of a women’s global tournament will be the largest in this World Cup, the 13th edition, at USD 4.48 million, a 239 percent increase over the USD 1.32 million given to Australia in 2022.
Compared to the USD 600,000 England received three years ago, the runners-up will receive USD 2.24 million, a 273 percent gain. The group-stage competitors will receive USD 250,000, while the losing semi-finalists would receive USD 1.12 million apiece, an increase from USD 300,000 in 2022.
A extra USD 34,314 will be awarded to teams for each group-stage victory. The fifth and sixth-place teams will receive USD 700,000 apiece at the completion of the group stage, while the seventh and eighth-place teams will receive USD 280,000.
“Our message is simple, women cricketers must know they will be treated on par with men if they choose this sport professionally,” Jay Shah, the ICC chair, said in a statement. “The uplift [in prize money] underscores our ambition to deliver a world-class ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup and to inspire the next generation of players and fans. Women’s cricket is on a remarkable upward trajectory, and with this step we are confident the momentum will accelerate.”
Beginning on September 30, India and Sri Lanka will host this World Cup. Tickets for the tournament’s opening match between India and Sri Lanka have not yet gone on sale, despite the fact that it is less than a month away. But according to the ICC, online ticket sales are anticipated to begin this week.
The 2022 World Cup tickets went on sale six months before the competition.
