Yastika Bhatia ruled out of World Cup with knee injury suffered during the preparatory camp in Visakhapatnam.
Yastika Bhatia, India’s wicketkeeper-batter, suffered a left knee injury at the training camp in Visakhapatnam, which has forced her to miss both the forthcoming three-match ODI series against Australia and the ODI World Cup.
Bhatia has been replaced in both squads by Uma Chetry, who was a standby. Chetry, 23, has not yet played an ODI but has played in seven T20Is for India. She was removed from the India A team that was scheduled to play South Africa in the World Cup warm-up match on September 28 because she is now a member of the main squad.
Bhatia was Richa Ghosh’s backup and hadn’t participated in an ODI since October 2024. After an outstanding showing for India A in Australia, where she scored 59, 66, and 42 in three 50-over matches, she was selected for the World Cup squad.
On September 30, India will play Sri Lanka in the World Cup opener in Guwahati.
