Yoane Wissa urges Brentford to keep their word so that he can get his move away from the club to Newcastle.
Accusing Brentford of “unduly standing in his way” of a move to Newcastle United, striker Yoane Wissa has urged the team to “keep their word” and allow him to depart before the transfer deadline.
The Democratic of Congo international, who has two days left in the transfer window, is upset that the west London club is not selling him to Newcastle after two offers were turned down, the most recent of which was £35 million guaranteed plus an additional £5 million in add-ons.
Wissa hasn’t been practicing or playing for the first team this season and has stated that he wants to move to St. James’ Park.
Sources claim that Brentford’s initial asking price of £40 million for Wissa has since risen to almost £60 million.
In a statement on social media on Sunday, Wissa said: “As the window comes to an end, the club has now significantly changed its position, going against what was communicated.
“This has left me in a difficult and frustrating position. The promise that I could leave this summer has not been fulfilled. It saddens me to have to write that, and I maintain total respect for the club and its fans.”
