Yuvraj Singh, the legendary Indian all-rounder, recently shared a humorous story involving a Bollywood actress, but his remarks have sparked backlash for being insensitive.
Speaking on the ‘Club Prairie Fire’ podcast, Yuvraj recalled how his then-girlfriend, a now-prominent actress, followed him on India’s tour of Australia.
He refrained from naming her but said, “I was dating an actress, very successful now. She was filming in Adelaide, and I asked her not to meet me as I needed to focus. But she followed me to Canberra on the bus.”
Yuvraj mentioned his poor performance in two Tests and how he confronted her, asking, “What are you doing here?” to which she replied, “I want to spend time with you.” He recounted how they spent time together, but he insisted she focus on her career while he focused on his.
The cricketer then humorously narrated how she packed his suitcase and accidentally left him with her pink flip-flops, which he had to wear to the airport. “In the morning, I couldn’t find my shoes. She said, ‘Wear mine,’ and I had to hide my feet as the guys clapped for me,” he joked.
Although Yuvraj didn’t reveal the actress’s name, social media quickly speculated that he was referring to Deepika Padukone, with whom he shares a dating history. Many users criticized Yuvraj for revealing personal details that could harm the actress’s dignity.
